Our Executive Chef, Antonio Tardio, brings his vast knowledge and experience in the culinary world to offer a multitude of services here at the Black Walnut!
Antonio was first introduced to the joys of food through his family’s yearly traditions of making everything from sausages to wine, including a family sauce recipe that traces back to Italy on the Amalfi Coast and Calabria region. As a native Brooklynite, he started working at a wedding hall in Bensonhurst at age sixteen and went on to gain a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, in addition to a Culinary degree from French Culinary School. He quickly went to work applying his passion for service and love for food at luxury establishments including The Oak Room and Oak Bar (Plaza Hotel, NYC), Maialino (Gramercy Park Hotel, NYC), Paramount Hotel (NYC), and Taj Exotica Resort and Spa (Maldives). Outside of the kitchen, Antonio can be found trekking through wilderness, be it camping, hiking, rafting, or cycling. His appreciation of nature is reflected throughout his inspired dishes, with a focus on fresh, pure ingredients.
We are excited to have Chef Tardio bring his expertise in international cuisine, paired with Italian influences, to offer a New American menu sure to satisfy your taste buds and keep you coming back for more!
